Parents Who Host, Lose The Most

Don't be a party to teenage drinking.

Parents Who Host(PWH) is a public awareness program educating communities and parents about the health and safety risks of serving alcohol at teen parties.  The PWH campaign is a message that has been used in Citrus County for several years to help bring attention to this issue.  The most recent Florida Substance Abuse Survey shows support from actual surveys done with Citrus County youth that indeed many teens are engaging in underage drinking at home.

The program takes place at state and local levels, concentrating on celebratory times for youth, such as homecoming, holidays, prom, graduation and other times when underage drinking parties are prevalent.

This program encourages parents and the ENTIRE community to send a unified message that teen alcohol consumption is unhealthy, unsafe and unacceptable.

Our public campaign in Citrus has consisted of newspaper ads, radio spots, and parent calendar ads with the school system also.  With local interaction, our staff, board members, and other volunteers, often engage parents, grandparents, and guardians at our booth at local festivals and other events to share this message.

Currently, you can see our Billboards promoting this campaign at the intersection of State Road 44 and County Road 491 in Lecanto headed toward Inverness, and on State Road 19 headed north to Crystal River from Homosassa near the Flea Market.
